Sotware Dev Specialist

Classification Summary: Plans, conducts and supervises assignments generally involving the larger, more complex, and high-profile projects. May lead or direct projects. Assists with the review and evaluation of employee performance. Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software operating systems, including but not limited to, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software. Participates in the development of test strategies, devices and systems. Job Duties and responsibilities: Manage programming and IT group, develop software in support of telescope operations, and in support of instruments operations, develop software for new developments, develop new computing hardware, maintain existing computing and network hardware Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
