Job Description

The Georgia College Department of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy is seeking to fill a position at the level of tenure track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will primarily teach introductory Astronomy and Astronomy laboratory classes for non-majors, but may also teach other upper and lower level courses in either physics or astronomy. As a tenure track appointment, in addition to teaching, scholarly activity and service are required. While open to all areas of astrophysics, scholarship in the area of computational astrophysics is preferred. Service requirements for this position will include coordinating the publishing of Astronomy and Physics Laboratory manuals.  The Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy at Georgia College supports several facilities for our physics program, including a machine shop, a teaching planetarium, and an on-campus observatory with a 24-inch telescope.
