The software development team of the Chandra data system division has an opening for an IT Specialist to join our team in Cambridge MA. The talented developer will work with management to modernize the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and releasing software and environments. The employee will work collaboratively with all members of the software development group to migrate legacy infrastructure capabilities to more modern technologies that are configured and maintained for efficient use. We offer a challenging environment working in partnership with scientists and an existing software development team, to bring Chandra science analysis tools and products to the astronomical community at large.

Duties include:

 Communication with scientists and development team for software requirements.

 Research new software management tools and software support services.

 Software development and maintenance through all phases of the software development lifecycle.

 Technical writing support for internal and user documentation.

 Problem analysis and evaluation in support of data analysis and user input.

 Ability to work as part of a team.
