Job Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for 1-2 postdoc(s) to work with Dr. Vivian U. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to lead projects within Dr. U's NSF and/or NASA ADSPS programs, including but not limited to detailed comparisons of hydrodynamic sims of feedback in galaxy mergers to IFU data, generation of mock catalogs with far-IR line properties with Cloudy models, exploration of obscured and dual / binary AGN across cosmic epochs, etc. In addition, the candidate(s) may have input on the direction of ongoing projects within the group and opportunities to mentor undergrads. Preference may be given to those with prior experience with IFU data, simulations, JWST technicalities, and/or far-IR spectroscopy, but all exceptional candidates will be considered.

The position(s) will start by Fall 2025 and will initially be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent upon funding availability and satisfactory progress evaluations. The successful applicant should hold a PhD in astronomy, physics, or a related discipline by the appointment’s start date.
