DESY is one of the world’s leading research centers for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics, and accelerator physics. The Zeuthen location of DESY has a strong focus on astroparticle physics (gamma-ray and neutrino astronomy). The experimental groups are accompanied by a strong astroparticle theory group.
ULTRASAT is a space mission mapping the ultraviolet sky. Its primary science objective is to search for counterparts of gravitational wave sources. The mission is led by the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and the Israeli Space Agency and is planned to be in orbit by 2025. DESY develops and produces the UV camera for the ULTRASAT mission.
About your role:
- Active role in the ULTRASAT camera development
- Responsibility for the quality assurance of the camera
- Quality assurance point of contact for all industry partners
- Participation in the testing of the camera
- Active role in the ULTRASAT mission's reviews
About you:
- Master's degree in space engineering, aeronautics, physics, material sciences or equivalent qualification
- Experience with quality assurance
- Experience within a space project
- Good knowledge of English and the willingness to learn German
- Willingness to participate in expert and working meetings and conferences abroad
