Job Description
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Texas at San Antonio seeks a well-qualified astronomy instructor to start in the Spring or Fall 2017 semester. The successful candidate will be focused on undergraduate teaching, including non-major introductory astronomy classes and laboratories. Participation in outreach programs is encouraged.
The Department offers a minor in Astronomy and the successful candidate will also be encouraged to participate in the teaching of upper-division courses in the minor.
Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics, experience working with small telescopes for outreach and student laboratories, and demonstrated classroom teaching experience. This is a non-tenured faculty position but a three-year rolling contract is guaranteed. Research will be encouraged but is not currently part of the job description.
