Job Description
The Solar Physics Research Group at the University of Graz led by Prof. Astrid Veronig, is inviting applications for a PhD researcher position. The PhD project will focus on high-energy solar flare physics using data from the Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) onboard the Solar Orbiter Mission, to investigate particle acceleration and energy transport in solar flares. The project is funded by the Austrian Science Fund, and is carried out in collaboration with the Swiss STIX PI institute FHNW.
Requirements:
- MSc (or equivalent) in physics, astrophysics, space physics, or a related discipline
- Very good study track record
- Very good programming skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong analytical abilities and problem solving
- Interest in astro- and space physics
- Teamplayer who likes to work with other group members
Appointment & Salary:
The PhD position is for three years, with preferred start date in November 2026.
The gross annual salary for the position is 39,500 EUR.
