Job Description

The Cosmology and Astrophysics group at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC;

http://dipc.ehu.es) invites applications for sponsorship to the 2025 Ikerbasque Research Fellowship (see https://www.ikerbasque.net/en/calls/research-fellows-2024-1 for the previous call) in the areas of cosmology, galaxy formation, and/or theoretical astrophysics. Candidates should have obtained a PhD between 2015 and 2021 (extensions for medical and/or parental leaves can apply).

Ikerbasque fellowships are 5-year  tenure-track positions funded by the Basque government to conduct independent research and start a new research line. The fellowship can turn into a permanent position, at the level of Research Associate Professor, after an evaluation process during the 4th year of the fellowship.

The DIPC is a research institute located in San Sebastian, Spain, whose mission is to perform and catalyse cutting-edge research in physics and related disciplines, as well as to convey scientific culture to society. Currently, DIPC has ~130 researchers, hosts ~200 visitors per year, and has organised more than 70 international conferences since 2014. DIPC is structured around 6 general areas: Condensed Materials Physics, Quantum Physics, Physics and Chemistry of Materials, Nanoscience, and, since 2018, Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics.

The Cosmology and Astrophysics group currently consists of three senior scientists (Raul Angulo, Nate Bastian and Silvia Bonoli), 6 postdocs, and 7 PhD students. The group's research focuses on cosmological numerical simulations, cosmic microwave background, theoretical modelling of galaxy formation and quasars, the exploitation of large extragalactic surveys, stellar clusters, and star formation. Applicants that complement and extend these research lines are particularly encouraged to apply.
