Job Description
The Physics Department and the School of Computer Science at Ariel University invite applications for a joint tenure-track faculty position in Space Research & Astroinformatics. The successful candidate will join the new Astroinformatics Center at Ariel University (https://www.ariel.ac.il/wp/agas/research), and, as such, should be an internationally recognized scholar in Space Research & Astroinformatics with expertise in computer science or data science and Artificial intelligence, and its application in astronomy, numerical simulations and its application in astrophysics, or in related fields.
The candidates must be leaders in their field and must have a distinguished publishing record in high-quality journals. They should have a clear and developed research vision, initiate and follow through
on research programs, apply for grants, and participate in all departmental activities. Applicants should be comfortable teaching computational physics, computer science or data science or Artificial intelligence courses at the undergraduate level, as well as advising graduate students. It is required that applicants have a PhD in physics, Space Research & Astroinformatics, astrophysics, astronomy, or adjacent fields, followed by Post-Doctoral training abroad.
The candidate must show evidence of pursuing independent externally funded research programs, as well as a commitment to both undergraduate teaching and graduate mentoring. The applicant’s ability to publish in CS conference proceedings related to ML or AI will be considered an advantage.

* The academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and achievements.
* Employment terms and salaries will be according to academic salary scales for universities in Israel as determined by CHE regulations.
