Job Description
The Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares (ICN), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship (1 year, renewable for a second) in computational and high-energy astrophysics, starting March 2027 in Mexico City, Mexico.
The selected candidate will work with either Dr. Fabio De Colle or Dr. Diego López-Cámara. Applicants must indicate their preferred supervisor and submit materials directly to that faculty member.

The candidate will have access to UNAM’s high-performance computing infrastructure for large-scale simulations.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD in astrophysics, physics, computational physics, or related fields, awarded within five years of the start date.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
* Computational astrophysics
* Numerical HD / MHD
* High-performance computing
* Relativistic fluid dynamics
* Scientific programming (C/C++, Fortran, Python, MPI/OpenMP)
* ML and data science
Selection Process
The selection process consists of two stages:
1. Institute-level review (decision expected by the end of June 2026)
2. University-level approval (final decision expected during the second week of October 2026)
The selected candidate is expected to begin the fellowship in March 2027.

Compensation Notes
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of MXN 32,000 (before taxes).
