Job Description
Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD student position in astronomy and astronomy at Uppsala University, under the supervision of Professor Erik Zackrisson. The PhD project will focus on the study of gravitationally lensed stars at cosmological distances, observed with the James Webb Space Telescope. The project is expected to involve analysis of observational data, development of new analysis tools, and numerical simulation of observational biases in this field. The starting date is September 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Uppsala University is the oldest University in the Nordic countries. Many Uppsala researchers have an international background and English is commonly used both at the department and in daily life. This position requires a MSc degree in Astronomy, Physics or a related discipline completed by the time the employment starts.
The position as PhD student comes with a monthly salary and is limited to four years of full-time studies, or up to five years if departmental work (teaching or administration) is included. Compensation and Benefits
