Job Description

The IAP is seeking applications for a post-doctoral position in the modelling and data interpretation of cosmic large-scale structures. Appointments could start as early as spring 2025, but later start dates are possible. The successful candidates will carry out cutting-edge research within the context of Bayesian forward modelling and machine learning, with application to cosmological parameter interference and the reconstruction of the initial conditions of our universe, both from current and upcoming cosmological surveys.

The research will be done in the context of the Simons Collaboration on “Learning the Universe” (https://www.learning-the-universe.org/) and of the Aquila Consortium (https://www.aquila-consortium.org). Both collaborations offer ample opportunities for exchange with researchers from other participating nodes, providing a multidisciplinary environment for the successful candidates to thrive.

Applicants should have obtained a PhD in physics, astronomy or related subject by the time of the appointment. The appointment is for 2+1 years with a salary depending on experience and performance. Generous funding will be available for travel and research.

The appointment is pending approval of funding.
