Job Description
Are you a recent graduate passionate about astrophysics and eager to gain hands-on research experience? Are you interested in continuing your education in astronomy graduate school but need additional research experience? The CfA SPARK program offers a one-year postbaccalaureate research opportunity at the Center for Astrophysics where you will work alongside world-class scientists, contribute to current and on-going research, and develop essential skills in data analysis, numerical modeling, and scientific communication. With personalized mentorship, access to top-tier resources, and opportunities to publish your work, this program is designed to strengthen your graduate school applications and prepare you for a successful career in astrophysics. Successful applicants will begin on September 1, 2025 with a recommended 9-12 month appointment, depending on personal situations. Over the course of a one-year immersive experience, participants will engage closely with a CfA mentor on a research project, benefitting from training in data analysis, programming, numerical modeling, and scientific communication. This hands-on experience will assist participants in determining whether graduate school is the right path while also enhancing their prospects for admission into advanced degree programs.
