Call for applications for tenure track and technical expert positions – Center for computational astrophysics in Bar ilan
Job Summary
Job Description
As part of Bar Ilan’s initiative for establishing a new center for computational astrophysics, the department of physics at Bar Ilan University invites applicants for both faculty and technical expert positions. The long--term goal of this newly formed center is to promote astrophysics research using advanced scientific computing by uniting experts across disciplines to develop cutting-edge algorithms, high-performance computing methods, and big data solutions in all fields of astrophysics.
The new center for computational astrophysics will bring together researchers and experts, both theorists and observers, whose main research and interest areas include the development of dedicated algorithms and use of high-end computational facilities, broadly defined, as an inherent part of their academic research. These include, but are not limited to: development, optimization and implementation of dedicated algorithms for solution of various theoretical problems using high-performance parallel computing based on both CPUs and GPUs; development and implementation of methods dedicated to efficient information extraction, analysis, usage, handling and storage of big data; and developing algorithms for the structure and tasks associated with machine learning.
At this point we aim at hiring a few permanent members, both at a tenure-track and technical experts (research associate) levels. We particularly look for technical experts in high performance computation with diverse professional backgrounds. The successful candidates will have a joint appointment at the center and at the department of physics in Bar Ilan.
To apply, please send an updated CV, publication list, and short (typically up to three pages each) summaries of (i) past and present scientific achievements; and (ii) future research plans. In your documents, please specify how your research fits into the vision of the newly established center. Material should be sent to:
