Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position with the Department of Physics in the area of Astrophysics. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or related discipline. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral research experience. The successful candidate is expected to be an effective teacher who will establish a vigorous research program in Astrophysics. Synergy with existing atomic, molecular, and optical physics, plasma physics, high-energy density physics, laboratory astrophysics, or gravitation research in the department would be advantageous. Start-up funds will be provided. In addition, the University is a founding partner in the Great Basin Observatory, providing remote access to a 0.7-meter research-grade telescope/instrumentation located in the darkest skies in the continental US.
