Computational Physics, Inc. is seeking a physicist, astronomer or engineer with experience in celestial mechanics and/or orbital analysis. This position is open now and is located at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Required:
1. Experience determining orbits from observational astronomical optical and/or radio data.
2. A PhD and at least two years of experience; OR a Master’s Degree with at least five years of experience. Relevant thesis work can be included when calculating the number of years of experience.
3. U.S. citizenship is required.
Desirable additional qualifications:
1. Experience using and improving orbit determination models that include atmospheric drag, solar radiation effects and higher-order gravitational effects.
2. Experience with off-the-shelf orbit determination software such as ODTK, GEODETICA, or Astro-Graph.
3. Familiarity with Python.
