Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Regis University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position on our Northwest Denver, Colorado campus, to start August 2019.  The successful candidate will be prepared to teach introductory and upper-division physics classes and interdisciplinary classes within the Core curriculum, and also to advise students, to participate in academic governance, and to maintain an active research program that engages undergraduates.   All research specializations will be considered for the position, in the context of building the intellectual strength of a department whose current tenured faculty members are an observational astronomer and a nuclear/particle experimentalist.  The department strongly encourages applications from women and underrepresented minority candidates.

A faculty member with a research agenda is normally expected to teach 18 semester hours per academic year.   Our department primarily serves full-time undergraduate students in campus-based courses, with a student population that includes both residential and commuter students from a wide variety of backgrounds.

As a Jesuit university, Regis has traditions of balancing academic rigor with care for each student as a whole person, of encouraging a continual search for meaning and purpose, and of promoting social justice and service to the common good.  The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to this mission, and to working effectively with a racially, socioeconomically, and religiously diverse group of students and colleagues.

Additional details, including Regis University’s policy commitments to equal opportunity employment and nondiscrimination, will be found at  Review of applications will begin on January 7, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. Position availability is subject to final budgetary approval.
