The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a

Full Professor in Extragalactic Astrophysics

This position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University and appointed at the Institute of Astro- and Particle Physics.

Outstanding candidates representing the general field of astrophysics in both research and teaching with a focus on extragalactic astrophysics will be considered. We are particularly looking for candidates with profound expertise in observation, phenomenological modelling and/or numerical simulation of extragalactic objects or systems, and encourage applicants able to use the research opportunities available through ESO, and in particular the upcoming ELT.

We expect conducting a vibrant and internationally competitive research program, and teaching in Physics with primary focus on Astrophysics. Synergy with established research directions at the Institute and beyond is highly desirable.

Eligibility requirements include a pertinent degree in higher education, habilitation (or equivalency), publications in international peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated leadership, academic and/or research experience abroad.

Basic salary is set down in the collective bargaining agreement in remuneration group A1. Depending on qualification and experience a higher salary can be subject of negotiations with the rector.
