Faculty positions across astronomy, astrophysics & space science.
Job Summary
Job Description
The University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in Beijing invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in all areas of astronomy, astrophysics & space science.
Fifteen faculty positions have been opened within the ambitious new UCAS School of Astronomy & Space Science, with internationally competitive salary and funding; given suitable candidates we intend to fill several of those positions this year. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is providing UCAS with substantial support to establish itself rapidly as a world-leading university. UCAS already has highly selective undergraduate admissions.
The School is closely associated with the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC). China is investing heavily in science, and unique present or near-future national observational facilities include FAST and HXMT, with further X-ray observatories expected to launch in the early 2020s. Beijing provides an increasingly vibrant community for astronomical research.
Applicants are requested to provide a CV & list of publications, along with descriptions of their prior research and teaching experience. These should be accompanied by a clear plan for their future research, and sent in a single pdf file to:
[email protected]
(to which address informal questions may also be sent). Candidates should also arrange for at least three confidential letters of recommendation to be sent to this address. Applications received before 1st February 2017 will receive full consideration.
We welcome applications from people in traditionally under-represented groups, and especially encourage interest from individuals who are enthusiastic about inspiring and educating outstanding students, regardless of their gender or cultural background.
