Job Description

The Department of Physics at Villanova University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics position beginning Fall 2019. We seek applicants committed to the teacher-scholar model, in which faculty integrate their scholarly pursuits with undergraduate education. The successful candidate should demonstrate high potential for both teaching and research, including the active engagement of undergraduate students in research and the ability to attract external funding.

The Villanova Physics Department has active research in the areas of Astrophysics and Condensed Matter Physics. In Astrophysics, our faculty are involved in studies of gravitational waves, the Cosmic Microwave Background, black hole accretion, and star formation, with strengths in observation and instrumentation. In Condensed Matter, our faculty specialize in low-dimensional materials, biological physics and magnetism in nanoscale materials, and structure and magnetism in correlated-electron materials. Preference will be given to candidates who will pursue collaborative research with our faculty in one of these areas.
