Job Description

The Department of Physics invites applications for a Lectureship position to expand our research activities in Astrophysics. The Lecturer appointee will demonstrate a strong personal vision for research, combined with a significant and growing international research profilein the areas of observational or theoretical astronomy and astrophysics. As well as building a strong independent research programme, candidates will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate physics teaching in the Department.

The appointee will be able to demonstrate synergy with the UK and international Astrophysics research agenda and the Astrophysics group in Surrey. In addition to Astrophysics, the Department of Physics has strong research groups in the areas of Nuclear Physics, Soft Matter, Medical & Radiation Physics and Photonics & Quantum Sciences. Within the wider University the Surrey Space Centre has an international reputation in space research and satellite engineering, hosting the first University based International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC), affiliated to the national ISIC facility at Harwell. The Department is also part of the South-East Physics Network (SEPnet) comprising nine regional Physics Departments working together to advance the discipline.
