Job Description
Faculty Positions (Astronomy) at NCRA-TIFR: The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA-TIFR) at Pune, India, invites applications for faculty positions in astronomy. Research activities at NCRA-TIFR are centred on radio astronomy, where the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) is a major international facility. Apart from pursuing a vigorous research programme, faculty members at NCRA-TIFR are expected to spend about half of their time on support activities including teaching of graduate courses, overseeing common facilities, GMRT operations, instrumentation development and user support. Candidates from other areas of astronomy having potential synergies with research activities at NCRA-TIFR are also encouraged to apply.
The salaries of entry-level faculty members, i.e. those joining after a few years of post-doctoral research, and assuming an off campus residence, are between INR 1,56,960/- per month and 1,60,746/- per month. Faculty members are also entitled to on-campus housing (subject to availability; staff members staying off campus are entitled to a House Rent Allowance) and health care benefits. Candidates with appropriate experience can be considered for higher levels with a higher salary.
