Job Description

The Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University (MTU) seeks a candidate to fill a faculty position at the tenure-track Assistant Professor or higher level starting Fall 2023. Current astrophysics research at MTU includes gamma-ray and cosmic-ray astrophysics, astroparticle physics, cosmology, large-scale structure, galaxy evolution, dark matter and machine learning applications in astrophysics. MTU physics faculty are actively involved in the cosmic-ray and gamma-ray experiments Auger and HAWC as well as in research & development for the SWGO project. Preference will be given to astrophysics researchers that will enhance and complement the current research activities. Experience collaborating in multi-wavelength and/or multi-messenger astrophysics research, or astronomy outreach is also desirable.

Required qualifications include a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field, postdoctoral experience, and a record of substantive research.
