Job Description

The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) seeks 2 tenure-track assistant professors for the Space Science and Engineering Initiative (SSEI). Established in 2024 with 8 initial tenure-track faculty lines, the SSEI is a joint effort of the UHM College of Engineering (CoE) and the Institute for Astronomy (IfA) dedicated to the creation of an interisland research and development center for the development of island-grown technologies, telescopes, and missions. The SSEI faculty will enable enhanced participation and international leadership in the space sciences by Hawai'i though the growth of new capabilities and by leveraging existing assets within the state.

SSEI faculty members are expected to collaboratively build research programs with other faculty that contribute to the core mission of the SSEI.  Applicants are broadly sought with engineering expertise in astronomical instrumentation design, development, construction, and testing.
