Job Description

The Theoretical High-Energy Astrophysics (THEA) group at the Columbia University invites applications for a position as Associate Research Scientist. The initial appointment is for one year, with anticipated renewal for up to a total of three years. The expected start date is on or around September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research under the guidance of Professors Andrei Beloborodov, Zoltan Haiman, Yuri Levin, Brian Metzger and Lorenzo Sironi. More information on THEA can be found at https://thea.astro.columbia.edu. This position will have access to high-performance computational facilities and travel funds. Candidates must hold a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or related field, by the date of the appointment, and will be expected to work well independently and cooperatively with a team. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
