First Announcement
Supermassive Black Holes and Blue Notes
We are delighted to announce the conference "Supermassive Black Holes and Blue Notes", to be held at the Campus MIL of the University of Montreal (in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) on 29 June - 3 July 2026 (to coincide with the world-renowned Montreal International Jazz Festival).
The conference will focus on supermassive black holes at all spatial scales, from the event horizon itself to active galactic nucleus feedback on galaxy clusters and everything in between. More information is provided below and on the conference website: https://sites.google.com/view/smbh2026/home
To register your interest and be kept in the loop (via emails) about abstract submission and registration, please fill in the pre-registration form at: https://sites.google.com/view/smbh2026/registration
Scientific rationale:
The conference aims to spotlight the significant progress made in the study of supermassive black holes and their impacts, addressing open questions and exploring future prospects, particularly in the wake of the latest observations from the James Webb Space Telescope.
The four main themes of the conference are:
- Advanced techniques for measuring supermassive black hole properties.
- Observations of supermassive black holes at the event horizon scale.
- Feeding and feedback processes of supermassive black holes.
- Formation and growth of high-redshift supermassive black holes.
