Inclusion of events & deadlines on the AAS Calendar is for viewer information only and does not imply endorsement by the American Astronomical Society.
The Establishing Multimessenger astronomy Inclusive Training (EMIT; https://www.vanderbilt.edu/emit/) program at Vanderbilt University will host its 2nd summer school July 7 - July 25, 2025. This three week summer school will be held in-person at Vanderbilt University and Fisk University, both in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
If you are interested, please complete this form no later than March 15, 2025. We have capacity for 15-20 students, with all funding provided for travel, housing, meals, and social activities.
This summer school is unusual in that we will not only cover the fundamentals of electromagnetic, gravitational wave, and particle astrophysics, practical skills such as astrostatistics and data analysis, and professional skills such as building a CV and networking as a nerd, but we are deeply committed to building a healthy new field that is vibrant and welcoming for everyone, so we'll discuss and practice ways to do that throughout the workshop. We culminate with a fun role-playing exercise to find the host galaxy of the first binary black hole merger in LISA, complete with a celebration and press conference!
