The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) maintains 24 Sections — dynamic communities that represent a wide range of scientific disciplines and interest areas. Section D represents the field of Astronomy. Its steering committee includes AAAS members, many of whom also belong to the American Astronomical Society. Each Section is responsible for nominating and reviewing candidates for AAAS Fellow honors and evaluating symposia proposals for the AAAS Annual Meeting.
