An Update on the AAS/IOP Publishing eBook Program

John Navas IOP Publishing

Following the announcement in December about the exciting new partnership between the AAS and IOP Publishing to launch a joint ebook program, we were delighted to have the opportunity to talk with many of you at the 225th AAS meeting in Seattle in early January about what the program will entail.

It was a pleasure to hear the enthusiasm of so many AAS members about the new venture, and we can’t wait to get to work on the new series with you.

For those of you we didn’t get a chance to meet in Seattle, we want to give you a quick overview of what the new book program is about.

By combining IOP’s award-winning ebooks expertise with the deep subject knowledge and editorial guidance of the AAS, this new book series will offer authors an unparalleled publishing opportunity to exploit the best technology available to showcase their subject.

What will be developed is a collection of leading books, reviews, and monographs in the astronomical sciences, ultimately covering planetary, stellar, galactic, and cosmological phenomena and processes, as well as instrumentation and techniques, computation and statistics, and other practical aspects of modern astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, and related fields.

The new series will begin publication in 2017, and we are now actively commissioning titles. For further information about the series and how it will function in both electronic and print formats, or to submit book ideas, visit ioppublishing.org/books/aas.

We look forward to talking with you soon!
