Apply for My Job, the John N. Bahcall Public Policy Fellowship!

Josh Shiode

As anyone who's talked to me about my job knows, I've really enjoyed it. But all good things must come to an end. And so it is with my tenure as the AAS John N. Bahcall Public Policy Fellow, come August 2015. While that means I have to find myself a new job (something I'm already actively pursuing), it also means that it's time to recruit the next Bahcall Fellow!

If you will have a PhD in the astronomical sciences or a related field by Fall 2015 and have an interest in a fellowship — one year, renewable for two — in Washington, DC, working on science policy and advocacy, please apply! I took this fellowship immediately after getting my PhD in 2013, but past fellows have held postdocs prior to taking the position.

Those interested should visit the Bahcall Fellowship page and our new webform to read about the position, enter your information, and upload your cover letter and resume (a Job Register post will appear in January). Applications will be accepted through 5:00 pm EST on 31 March 2015 for a fellowship term expected to begin 15 July 2015 (exact start date may vary).

If you have any questions about the position, please don't hesitate to contact me or the AAS Director of Public Policy, Joel Parriott.
