Candidate Statement: As I see it, the nominating board has two main charges.  First, we must guarantee the future of the AAS by involving our younger members in leadership roles.  Secondly, we need to increase the diversity of our leadership in order to reflect the growing diversity of our Society.   As a native Hawaiian, I have spent a good deal of effort doing exactly these things at various levels at the University of Hawaii and would like to continue and expand these efforts at the national level represented by the AAS.
