Applications Invited for IAU PhD Prizes
Richard Fienberg, AAS Press Officer
This announcement is posted on behalf of IAU General Secretary Teresa Lago:
In 2016 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) created a new prize: the IAU PhD Prize. Each of the nine IAU Divisions has an annual opportunity to award its own prize to the candidate it feels has carried out the most remarkable work in the previous year (i.e., a doctoral thesis that has been defended between 16 December the previous year and 15 December this year).
The IAU PhD Prize is open to candidates from any country, regardless of whether the country has an IAU National Membership. The objective is to recognize outstanding scientific achievement in astrophysics around the world even at that early stage in the career. I would like to count on you in alerting potential candidates, in your country or institution, about this opportunity.
