Statement of Care & Masking Policy

242
Albuquerque, New Mexico
242nd meeting of the American Astronomical Society
Albuquerque, New Mexico
4 – 8 June 2023

Statement of Care

Registrants must agree to abide by this Statement of Care and Masking Policy during the registration process.

I agree to prioritize the health and safety of other meeting attendees and myself. This includes following meeting masking policies and making sure my COVID vaccines are up-to-date in advance of the meeting. I agree to take a COVID rapid test if I am symptomatic for COVID.

If I have requested an exemption from the vaccination policy (which can be done by emailing the AAS Executive Officer Kevin Marvel) and it has been granted, I agree to self-complete daily COVID testing and report the results to AAS management using the online form provided. AAS will provide COVID rapid tests at the registration desk.

In the event that any daily test is positive, I agree to sequester in my room for the duration of the meeting and notify AAS staff via the online form. I understand AAS will assist me if I test positive, but that my home institution should be looked to first for financial assistance.

Masking Policy

The use of N95, KN95, KF94, or FFP2 masks — or those of equivalent protection — will be required in indoor AAS venues when in regions of high person density, such as meeting rooms, exhibit hall, escalators/stairs/elevators, etc. The AAS will provide these masks for free for any who need them (up to two per attendee).

Masks are encouraged but not required when indoors and reasonably separated from large groups of people, in designated eating areas, in large foyer areas, and select special events (to enable members to consume food and beverages, etc.), and outdoors.

Presenters will be allowed to remove their masks during their presentations if they wish, as long as they are reasonably distanced from the audience.

We will also implement an optional social distancing sticker system for attendees to communicate their preferred masking of people in proximity.

AAS reserves the right to implement a venue-wide mask mandate should community or national levels rise prior to or during the meeting.

If you are attending AAS 242 in person, and tested positive for COVID, please use this form to let AAS know.
