Register for the 232nd AAS Meeting

Registration is required to attend the scientific sessions, events, workshops, and splinter meetings held at the 232nd meeting of the American Astronomical Society. Registered attendees must display their badge at all times onsite to access these events. Individuals who are not registered for the meeting will not be permitted to attend sessions, events, or other meeting functions.

Registration Types

Registrant must be under 28 years of age and interested in the advancement of astronomy or related science. Full-time students age 28 or older who are pursuing a degree in astronomy or physics are eligible to register as a student upon furnishing proof of their full-time student status.

Local Educator
Local educators are middle- and high-school teachers and community college instructors who operate within 50 miles of the meeting venue.

Amateur Astronomer
An amateur astronomer is one who does not depend on the field of astronomy as a primary source of income or support, and does not have a professional degree or advanced academic training in the subject.

A guest must be a spouse, domestic partner, or significant other. Guest registration fee covers access to the exhibit/poster hall, opening and closing receptions, and daily morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Guests cannot attend workshops or scientific sessions.

Guest Registration for Children
Children 14 years old and above must pay the required guest registration fee of $60.00.

Please note: Full Registrations may not be changed to One Day Registrations; however, One Day Registrations may be upgraded to Full Registrations at anytime.


Requests for cancellations must be received in writing to or by fax to 202-234-7850. Please allow 4–6 weeks for all refunds to be processed. No refunds will be given after 30 April 2018.

Registration Refunds

  • Through 26 February 2018: Registration refund less the $25.00 processing fee
  • 27 February - 30 April 2018: Registration refund less the $50.00 processing fee
  • After 30 April 2018: No refunds will be given after this date.
