Role Overview
We seek a SkySphere Project Manager to lead the development, testing, and production of our all-sky camera’s hardware, software, and scientific capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Finalize SkySphere hardware design, optimizing capability, reliability, and cost.

Collaborate with the technical team to integrate SkySphere with SkyBridge.

Assess data quality and recommend improvements.

Oversee data analysis and project documentation.

Coordinate schedules, tasks, and budgets.

Supervise engineers, developers, and scientists.

Maintain relationships with institutions and observatories.

Assist in evaluating potential hires.
Requirements

Excellent communication skills; fluency in English.

3+ years in observational astronomy or related fields.

Proficiency in sky coordinate systems, photometric systems, and digital sensor imaging.

Strong Python skills; Linux command-line competency.
Preferred

Experience in all-sky camera design and data analysis.

Familiarity with AI for image recognition.

Experience with Jira/Confluence.

Advanced degree in astronomy, physics, engineering, or related field.
Position Details

Part-time (50% FTE), remote.

Start date: Negotiable, ideally 15 Aug – 1 Sep 2025.

Term: 6 months, extension possible.

Travel: Two 1-week visits/year to San Francisco (expenses paid).

Compensation and Benefits
No additional benefits are provided for this position.
Travel expenses covered for two one-week visits per year to San Francisco, CA (USA) to work in-person with the SkyMapper team.
This is a part-time (50% FTE) contract role with start date negotiable between 15 August and 1 September 2025.
Term is for a minimum of 6 months, with possibility of extension upon mutual agreement.
Fully remote, with travel funded for two one-week in-person visits to San Francisco per year.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and scope of work.
