Job Description
The Astronomical Institute, Tohoku University, invites applications for up to two research positions as Assistant Professor (fixed-term) or Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of exoplanets and planetary system formation. These positions are research-focused. The Institute is launching a research unit to further advance this field and offers an excellent environment for collaboration with neighboring and various research fields.
- Number of Positions: Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (Research) or Postdoctoral Researcher (Up to two positions)
- Affiliation: Astronomical Institute, Tohoku University
- Work Location: 6-3 Aoba, Aramaki, Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi 980-8578, Japan
- Start Date: April 1, 2026 or later (negotiable)
- Job Description: The successful candidate is expected to focus on observational studies or theoretical studies that can be directly compared with observations related to exoplanets and planetary system formation, and to contribute to the advancement of the field through collaborations with researchers in Japan and abroad, especially via international joint research.
- Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or be expected to obtain one by the start date.
