Postdoctoral position in Exoplanet Atmospheres at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy (API) at the University of Amsterdam Netherlands (UvA) to work in Jean-Michel Désert’s group on the characterization of exoplanet atmospheres. The primary responsibilities of the position are to lead research projects in the area of exoplanet atmospheres. Researchers working in the areas of observations or theory are invited to apply.

The successful applicant will contribute to several current research programs using space-and-ground based surveys dedicated to probing exoplanet atmospheres. The programs include combining low- and high-resolution spectroscopic observations of exoplanet atmospheres obtained from ground- and space-based observatories. These measurements will be used and compared to atmospheric models in order to determine the atmospheric composition, structure and dynamics of exoplanets. The Postdoctoral Scholar will primarily work on projects from a NWO-VIDI grant (“New Frontiers in Exoplanetary Climatology”) and will have the opportunity to join existing other projects. Previous experience with exoplanet observations is preferred but not required. Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy, physics, or planetary science on arrival.
