Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic individual eager to contribute to groundbreaking research in Astrophysics? Join our team at Keele University's Faculty of Natural Sciences in the Astrophysics Research Centre.

You willl collaborate with Dr. Nick Wright and our diverse team on an STFC funded project. The research focuses on investigating runaway stars ejected from star clusters to enhance our understanding of cluster formation and ages. Leveraging data from ESA's Gaia astrometry satellite and the WEAVE spectrograph, you will lead in identifying and confirming low-mass runaway stars.

As a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA), you will engage in astrometric identification, statistical analysis, N-body simulations, and collaborate within WEAVE to enrich the project. You will have opportunities to develop your own research program and leadership skills while contributing to the broader project goals. The post is available from April 1, 2024 for a duration of 3 years. A later start date is possible and can be discussed.

We welcome applications from individuals holding or expecting to obtain a PhD in astrophysics or related fields, demonstrating a passion for research. Prior experience with Gaia astrometry and optical spectroscopy of low-mass stars is advantageous, along with strong communication skills and a solid publication record.
