We invite applications for a 3-year Research Fellow position in Extrasolar Atmospheres at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. The successful candidate will join Prof. Johanna Vos’s group in the School of Physics. The position will focus on the study of giant extrasolar worlds and is funded by a Royal Society - Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellowship.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in observational and/or theoretical studies of brown dwarfs and/or giant exoplanets. General candidates are encouraged but preference will be given to those with experience in the techniques of atmospheric retrieval analysis and/or time-series monitoring of brown dwarfs/exoplanets. The scientific scope of the project will relate to observational and computational studies of extrasolar atmospheres, making use of multiple proprietary datasets from world-class facilities including the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope.
The position is available for three years, with an expected start date in September 2024. The starting salary will normally be in the range €42,793-€50,540 depending on experience, plus benefits and funding for travel and relocation costs.
