Postdoctoral Position - Modeling Protoplanetary Disks in the JWST Era
Job Summary
Orsay
France
Job Description
The IAS and the Paris-Saclay University invite applications for a postdoctoral research position to work with Benoît Tabone on the modeling of planet-forming disks in the context of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The overarching goal of the project is to develop a novel disk model to conduct ground-breaking analyses of the extensive spectroscopic data already obtained by MIRI-MRS, along with complementary ground-based instruments (e.g., CRIRES+, MATISSE).
The successful candidate will be based primarily at the Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale, a vibrant research environment located about 40 minutes from the Paris city center. They will collaborate closely with the JWST MINDS team and should expect regular travel abroad.
Applicants should hold a PhD in astrophysics, computational physics, or a related discipline. Good programming skills are essential. Experience with radiative transfer codes or astrochemical models is an asset. We also welcome candidates with a scientific background in planetary atmospheres or interstellar medium.
