Job Description
The Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a
postdoctoral researcher focusing on blazar theory and phenomenology with Prof. Tiffany Lewis.
The successful applicant will engage in research related to particle acceleration and high-energy
emission processes and have the opportunity to join and participate in gamma-ray science
collaborations. Some time may be used for additional projects led by the postdoctoral
researcher or to participate in writing proposals, as mutually agreed upon.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, use of transport equations or differential
equations generally, numerical methods, especially in C, and previous work with gamma-ray
data analysis, neutrino analysis, astrophysical jets, or active galactic nuclei.
The position is for 2 years, beginning September 2024 (or the preceding summer), and offers a
competitive salary and benefits package. The position is renewable for an additional year
pending the availability of funding. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics or a
related field prior to beginning the appointment.
