Job Summary
Halifax or Victoria
Canada
Job Description
We invite applications for up to two postdoctoral positions in observational studies of galaxy formation and evolution with Euclid and JWST. The successful candidate(s) will work with Dr. Marcin Sawicki’s group and a network of collaborators and will have opportunities to participate in our team’s projects as well as for independent research.
Our team’s focus will be on two related projects: (1) Multi-wavelength studies of very large samples of galaxies and their environments at z~1–3 in a 10 square degree region of Euclid Deep Field North and (2) imaging and spectroscopic studies of galaxies from the cosmic noon to the EoR in deep JWST datasets.
To support their research, the fellow(s) will have access to high-performance computing platforms, opportunities to apply for Canadian observing time on JWST, ALMA, Gemini, and CFHT, and access to funds for travel and publication costs. One of the positions is expected to be located in Halifax, Canada, while the other could be split between Halifax and Victoria, Canada. The 3-year appointment(s) will start in September 2026.
Review of applications will start on 15 January 2026. Application materials should be emailed to [email protected] and should consist of a CV, a research statement, and a cover letter, all in pdf format. Applicants should also arrange for three referees to send reference letters directly to the same address.
We appreciate and welcome diversity, and hire on the basis of research excellence and future potential. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all group members and encourage applications from all qualified researchers, including - but not limited to - women, visible minorities, Indigenous people, and people with disabilities. Delays in research due to, for example, illness or family responsibilities will be taken into consideration, and applicants who have experienced such delays are encouraged to indicate their impact in their cover letters.
