Job Description

Important Note on Pappalardo Fellowships Offer Deadlines:

The MIT Pappalardo Fellowships in Physics is a privately-funded postdoctoral fellowship program sponsored by the MIT Physics Department and encompasses multiple physics subfields, including astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology and related fields. This breadth requires the program to provide an early January 2022 decision deadline on offers given for this fellowship competition.

If you have any questions or concerns related to this policy, please feel free to contact the program's Executive Committee Chair, Prof. Jeff Gore, at [email protected].

The Executive Committee of the MIT Pappalardo Fellowships in Physics invites faculty and senior researchers within physics, astronomy or related fields to submit nominations for the 2022-2025 MIT Pappalardo Fellowships in Physics competition.

Nominees should be young physicists of exceptional ability at the beginning stage of their careers, who currently have or will have received a doctoral degree in physics, astronomy or related fields by September 1, 2022.

Candidates are nominated using the online form located at:

https://physics.mit.edu/research/pappalardo-fellowships-in-physics/competition/

The nomination deadline is Friday, SEPTEMBER 10, 2021.

Please note:

(1) The nominator's letter of reference for your nominee is not submitted with the online nomination form.

Instead, your nominee will submit your name and contact information to academicjobsonline.org (AJO), where the competition is hosted online.

AJO will then email you directly with instructions for uploading your letter to its secure web locker designated for referees.

(2) Current MIT graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, or those who have already received an offer for a postdoctoral position from an MIT faculty member, will only be considered by the Committee under exceptional circumstances.

(3) Interested candidates cannot self-nominate; nomination by a faculty or senior researcher is required.

Further details on this year's competition are available at: https://physics.mit.edu/research/pappalardo-fellowships-in-physics/competition/.

Thank you for your participation in the 2022-2025 MIT Pappalardo Fellowships in Physics competition. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the program's administrator, Ms. Carol Breen, at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Professor Jeff Gore
