Job Description
The ISM Evolution and Star Formation group (http://ism.bao.ac.cn/en/) at the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), are recruiting up to 2-3 post-doctoral scholars in the fields of radio astronomy, with one of the following focuses: 1) pulsar astronomy and fast radio bursts; 2) star formation and ISM in Milky Way and nearby galaxies; 3) galaxy evolution, exoplanet, gravitational wave, and other exploratory topic related to The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Our group conducts diverse research projects using FAST, JCMT, SMA, NOEMA, ALMA, Parkes, GMRT, VLBA, Keck, Palomar, SOFIA, etc. Our group is leading the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey (CRAFTS, http://crafts.bao.ac.cn), one of the five major surveys with FAST. We are also leading projects for the future Chinese Space Station Telescope and SKA.
We seek candidates of the highest caliber, with emphasis on his/her cognizance of the broad context and forward-looking capabilities. Applications with demonstrated experience in data reduction will be given preference. The successful fellow will have access to NAOC resources including FAST, LAMOST, optical and near-infrared telescopes through TAP (http://info.bao.ac.cn/tap/?q=node/17), JCMT, and ALMA (through China-Chile collaboration). Qualified applicants will be recommended to apply for NSFC young investigator grants, the CAS postdoctoral fellowship, and the EACOA Fellowship, all of which have been obtained by previous fellows in the group.
The starting annual compensation ranges from $35,000 to $55,000, contingent upon the qualification and performance. A travel and research grant will also be provided. The initial contract will be for one year, with the possibility of yearly renew and salary increase up to 3 years.
