Outer Heliosphere Postdocs

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We seek candidates for two Outer Heliosphere Postdocs (one for data analysis, one for numerical modeling) within our Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Technology (T) groups. We lead the IBEX-Hi instrument on the Interstellar Boundary Explorer mission and two instruments for the upcoming Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe mission. Our team is developing innovative statistical imaging methods and using them to carry out data analysis and numerical modeling initiatives to understand energetic neutral atom (ENA) observations by IBEX and outer heliospheric processes.

You will interact and collaborate with a team of experts in heliospheric science and ENA data analysis, theoretical and computational plasma physics, and statistical and data science. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible third year extension.

Requirements:

PhD in space physics, physics, astronomy or a related field completed within the past 5 years or soon to be completed

Experience in observational data analysis or theory and numerical simulations of space and heliospheric physics
