Job Description

Applications are invited for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer (SEDE) in the Instrumentation Design Lab  at the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Kansas beginning as early as July 1, 2026.  MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline with at least one year of experience in electronics design OR BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline with greater than five years’ experience in electronics design.; At least two years’ experience with high-performance PCB design with demonstrated ability to lay out PCBs for very high speed, very low noise and high density; at least one year of experience with HDLs/firmware: encompassing coding, simulating, or optimizing FPGAs and CPLDs; expertise in modern analog, digital and mixed-signal electronics; demonstrated evidence of creativity, inventiveness, and attention to detail, having successfully completed previous relevant projects. This will be evaluated via written materials; demonstrated aptitude for managing the Laboratory and budgets as evidenced by at least two years of experience successfully leading a technical team.
