Job Description
The Department of Astronomy at Tsinghua University invites applications for tenure-track / tenured positions starting on September 1, 2026. The preference will be given to high energy astrophysics, exoplanets, radio astronomy and AI for astronomy. Exceptional candidates in other areas will also be considered.
Tsinghua University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, and is also highly ranked internationally. The current research in the Department of Astronomy spans a wide range of topics, including cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, high energy astrophysics, gravitational wave astrophysics, exoplanets and planet formation, and radio astronomy. In addition, the faculty members are involved in developing instrumentation for X-ray satellite missions and ground-based facilities. The department strives to create an accommodating and stimulating academic environment for researchers of all nationalities. English is a working language.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field. A complete application should include a CV, a list of publications, and a statement of previous and future research. Materials, combined in a single PDF file, should be submitted by November 30, 2025 to receive full consideration. The applicant should also arrange for three letters of recommendation (five for those applying for tenured positions) to be uploaded prior to the same deadline.

The main selection criteria are research accomplishments and potential for future success.
