Job Description

We have an open three-year postdoctoral position in artificial intelligence and cosmological data analysis at the IAP.

The successful candidate will join this vibrant team to develop and apply simulation-based Bayesian and AI methods for the scientific exploitation of Euclid early data releases, in particular galaxy clustering, and to produce synthetic galaxy catalogs. The position is a 2+1 year fixed-term contract (full-time) with a negotiable start date that must occur before the end of 2026. The gross monthly salary ranges from €2,800 to €3,500, depending on qualifications.

The working language of the team is English. Applicants must hold a PhD in physics, astrophysics or a closely related field and have no more than three years of postdoctoral experience (or equivalent research experience). We seek candidates with strong expertise in cosmology, Bayesian statistics and/or data-driven methods, and excellent scientific writing and presentation skills in English. Experience with high-performance computing or machine learning is a plus.

The researcher will join the group of G. Lavaux and F. Leclercq and collaborate closely with members of the "Learning the Universe" project, distributed across international institutes and universities (see https://www.learning-the-universe.org), as well as with the Aquila Consortium (https://www.aquila-consortium.org).
