Job Description
The Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) at The Australian National University (ANU) welcomes applications for a postdoctoral fellow working with Prof Mark Krumholz and A/Prof Roland Crocker in theoretical and computational cosmic ray astrophysics. The fellow will have access to excellent computational resources through the group’s large allocations on national supercomputers. ANU is also a member of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Australia (CTA-Oz) consortium, providing access to CTA-related resources.

Selection criteria for the position:
- A PhD (or awarding of a PhD within six months of appointment commencement) in astrophysics, physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent qualifications and experience in a related area, with a track record of independent research in the field of cosmic ray astrophysics as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
- Evidence of the ability to articulate and prosecute innovative research in the field of cosmic ray astrophysics.
- Familiarity with numerical and computational methods is helpful but not required.
- An ability and commitment to contribute to bids for competitive external funding to support individual and collaborative research activities.
- The ability to assist in the supervision of students working on research projects.
- The ability to work as part of a team and to meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of staff and students in a cross-disciplinary academic environment and to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels.
- A demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.
Compensation and Benefits
A 17% superannuation contribution is provided in addition to the salary quoted; compensation including superannuation is 131,160 AUD. Relocation expenses will be provided for applicants relocating to Canberra. Generous paid parental leave entitlements of up to 32 weeks.
