Seeking a Chief Scientist (Principal Investigator) (Indefinite-term)

RIKEN invites applicants for the position of Chief Scientist (Principal Investigator) to serve in a leadership position in these research activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing research projects from a medium-to- long-term perspective.

The successful applicant for this Chief Scientist position (equivalent to full or senior university professor or director) will have an outstanding research record, a high level of research leadership abilities, and a high level of discernment as a scientist, and will be expected to continue to produce outstanding results going forward.

The successful candidate will be free to pursue their own research based on their long-term vision, and will aim to create new science beyond the boundaries of research fields and organizations in a research environment that facilitates collaboration with other laboratories led by Chief Scientists in diverse fields.
